“Hi, I’m Caitlin :)”
One thing I often get asked is:
“Why Interiors AND Websites? Why not one or the other?”
Simple Answer? “MOTHERHOOD.”
As a budding Interior Designer, I was enthralled by the creative process. I enjoyed learning as much as I could about, not just the visual artistry that accompanies Interior Design, but also the mathematical. I found it incredibly satisfying to solve spatial problems down to a 1/8” and to see a project I’ve only designed on paper come alive accurately in real space and time. Surveys, budgets, spreadsheets… it was a side of Interior Design I surprised myself at enjoying as much as I did. Needless to say, I was in my element.
Then, my beautiful boy was born…
As much as I longed for the creative and intellectual outlet that my previous work afforded me, I wanted just as strongly to be present for every sweet and sour moment of motherhood, as well. And since I couldn’t split or multiply myself in two, I spent a great deal of time struggling to find a sustainable balance between career and parenthood.
As frustrating as this endeavor was, I was lucky enough to work for and be mentored by an amazing former teacher of mine. She was astonishingly sensitive to my situation and offered to train me how to design Websites as way of aiding her business and allowing me to work from home. In a short time, I realized that this form of design gave me the same kinds of thrills! I could unleash my creativity while solving technical problems and virtual space dysfunctions. Optimizing a Website for the client and their ideal consumer was a skill comparable to identifying my Interior Design clients’ unspoken wants or inclinations when finalizing their new space. It wasn’t always easy, but essentially I was able to do what I love as a Designer and a Mother.
As the years rolled on, I find my little “Peanut” in school full-time and I am finally able to do what I’ve always dreamt of: DESIGN MY OWN LIFE! And, if you’d like, I can design for yours, too.
XO,
Caitlin Moore
Using personal affects or memorabilia to decorate, not only distinguishes your space from all others, but it adds a deeper layer of connection with the space, that inspires us to be more present. Trust me, your design will be anything but basic.
I ALWAYS encourage eco-friendly or sustainable design, when possible. Essentially, eco-sustainable design focuses on, not only the health and well-being of it’s inhabitants, but it also takes into consideration the local and global effects of our industry, as well.
Ways to increase eco-sustainability:
Use organic or recycled materials like renewable wood, wool and stone.
Source locally made products from your area and country to limit the transportation costs and it’s effects on our environment.
Implement waste reduction by composting and recycling.
Upcycle, or shop consignment/ second-hand for furniture and decor.
Invest in high- efficiency appliances, or better yet, convert to renewable energy.
Always consider the source and sustainable-quality of the materials you surround yourself with.
MANY of my friends, and myself included, seem to be finding ourselves in a generational conundrum : our parents are downsizing, while we are upsizing.
On paper, it looks like a match made-in-heaven, (you need furniture, they have furniture) but in reality, it rarely is. In fact, sentimental or heirloom furniture and décor is a common source of conflict within families when it comes down to space, taste, and naturally, feelings.
“Upcycling” existing furniture and décor is a wonderful way to feel good, give back, reduce, reuse, and recycle… not to mention, you are left with a one-of-a-kind family heirloom that has yet another great story to tell.

The delicate, yet integral relationship between art and logic is evident in both Interior Design and Website Design. Function and form MUST exist together in parallel unity in order for either to be fully successful.
Together we stand, divided we fall.
Respect for all contributors of creative and technical talent is paramount. Whether the space is material or virtual, the co-mingling of minds between designers and clients is where the magic truly happens. At Parallel Design Studios, we believe it is our role to act as a guide and liaison between you and your vision.
This isn’t OUR project, it’s YOURS!
We believe it is in actively collaborating with our partners-in-parallel that help us engage in a deeper appreciation of Design, and a more fulfilling experience of expression. THIS is what makes us unique. THIS is what sets us apart. THIS is what draws others to “align in design” with Parallel Design Studios.
